Why Expat Joy?
ExpatJoy Blog is becoming a reality due to my passion for communication, learning from others and sharing information on living the expatriate life.
In my experience, our fellow expatriates are our best source of help and information when it comes to living abroad.
There is a sense of camaraderie among the members of this community as many of our peers have dealt with similar situations and share a strong desire to help each other.
Personally, I have greatly benefited from the support of other expats as I moved from one continent to another. I’m happy to say that I have had many chances to give back as well.
Currently, I am living in the United States and am still finding my way around and making new friends. I’ve used this opportunity to communicate more globally and to create ExpatJoy: a venue for world citizens desiring to live a passionate global life.
Through the increasing ease of access to the internet globally, bringing email and social media to most of us, we now have tools to keep in touch with friends and family back home, allowing us to instantly, get informed on worldwide issues and communicate globally.
What an exciting time to be alive!
As many of my close friends will attest to, my favorite form of communication is talking – a whole lot! ExpatJoy will be a platform for us to communicate through writing.
Due to work, love and adventure, I have been moving frequently since 1991.
I’ve had to learn a few other languages at the expense of forgetting some of my mother-tongue, Portuguese. This has resulted in a somewhat confused mind, at times, but I feel I have been enriched by the exposure to interesting ways of thinking and different mindsets.
Unless you speak some Japanese, a tiny bit of German, Portuguese and English, and, of course, Portu-spanish (Portuguese + Spanish), you may, from time to time, find me a little odd.
So, please bare with me. The focus of ExpatJoy is communication and sharing information on successful international living.
Expect a few mistakes, in both languages – Portuguese and English, and help me, by commenting and sending in suggestions.
