Life Musings
To people watch is a hobby to some of us. You can see this pastime taken place at the numerous cafés at most big cities around the globe.
I have to admit that I enjoy watching people too. But, one activity that I really get a kick out of is to listen to people’s stories.
Over time, I’ve noticed that internal narratives (the stories we tell ourselves over and over) get introduced into my storytellers’ storylines.
Recently, I was part of a discussion about politics. Oh, the joy!
A friend was determined to convince every one of her political views. Fortunately, this time, I was neutral about the candidates who were being discussed. I observed instead.
Patty (not her real name), heatedly shared the reasons why candidate A was more prepared to lead the country. To emphasize her favorite, she could not share anything positive about candidate B. This fact alone creates an unintelligent conversation and impossible comparison.
I was curious, so asked if she ever considered being a politician herself. As I anticipated, her answer was affirmative.
I was left wondering if her passion for candidate A was indeed the way Patty got to show her inner story to the world.
