Saboteurs in my head?
If you are curious to learn more about saboteurs, ‘those little people running inside our heads’, mentioned in the first article of Times magazine edition – The Power of Joy, I invite you to put yourself in my place in the photo above.
Imagine that you are centering to start your daily exercise. Only this time, instead of being alone, you have people watching you and giving opinions about your performance.
People are looking directly at you.
Do you think centering would be easy or challenging?
If like me, you start to imagine what each person is thinking, and put these thoughts in sentences, you might come up with something like this:
- Wow, how Sandra doesn’t know how to dress properly for her videos!
- I think she is out of shape, and has gained too much weight!
- Sandra has no balance!
- Sandra lacks body alignment!
Well, saboteurs are the ‘little people’, or inner voices, within each of us. These voices, also known as inner critics, are what in my work methodology, are called saboteurs. Unlike outsiders, saboteurs speak with such certainty that many of us, unfortunately, believe their lies.
However, if we become aware of their presence, and know how they manifest themselves, we can train them to help us, instead of letting them continue to sabotage our life plans and dreams.
Have you noticed the saboteurs in your mind?
Yes, most certainly, you have some saboteurs in your head too!
xo, Sandra
